19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev won his initial title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his first professional title, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet saved 4 early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
